About MWI Silo Systems: Our Heritage
MWI Silo Systems Inc. was founded in 1981 as the industrial silo division of Mid-West Silo Systems Ltd. Mid-West was the leading builder of bottom unloading concrete farm silos in Ontario under the Continustore and Econostore trade names. Mid-West (the farm silo business) was sold in 1995.
MWI has built silos for a wide variety of products including grains, wheat shorts, meals, coal, sand, cement, and wood waste (including wet bark, wet and dry saw dust, veneer scrap, etc.). We have built silos up to 60' dia. with 40-60 degree steel hoppers for free-flowing products. Non free-flowing material is reclaimed using Weaver auger-type or Flying Dutchman flail-type reclaimers with capacities up to 250 tonne/hr. and can be set up for automatic operation to supply boilers or process, or truck load out.
MWI also constructs specialty towers for observation, housing, elevated water storage tank support, and chimneys.
With more than 40 years experience and field supervisors with 30 years experience, MWI has the people, the construction equipment and engineering to handle your project, large or small, 16' dia. to 80' dia.
Engineering
All MWI Designed Silos meet the the site specific requirements and conditions. Engineering exceeds the requirements of the current ACI 313 design codes, Canadian Farm Building Code, and National Building Code.
